The KCKPS Foundation for Excellence will host the 24th annual Wyandotte County Back to School Fair, Saturday, August 5.
This fun-filled event gives students across Wyandotte County an opportunity to receive much-needed school supplies, backpacks, hygiene kits, books, and more. Organizers will hand out at least 3,000 backpacks at the event, while supplies last.
New this year, the Back to School Fair has partnered with the Parks and Recreation Department of Kansas City, Kansas, and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County in Kansas City, Kansas. Students will receive essential information about activities that are available through the Parks and Rec Department.
Sports physicals will be offered to student-athletes as well as recommended school immunizations, COVID testing and vaccine, and health screenings, such as dental and vision, at no cost. This year students will be able to receive free haircuts on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Leaders of the Enough is Enough initiative, an anti-crime prevention group at Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, will be in attendance. They will provide information on conflict resolution among students and offer treats for stopping by their booth.
The Wyandotte County Back to School Fair event continues to be a vital resource to help get students off to a positive school year. The annual fair is about giving and caring for students. More importantly, it’s about making it a little easier for parents and lifting some of the burden of making sure their child is ready for class.
Students will be required to register upon arrival. Parents will need to provide proof of residency in Wyandotte County. Parents must also accompany students at the event.
In addition, families will have the opportunity to enroll or register their children for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year at KCKPS.
The Wyandotte County Back to School Fair is made possible by generous sponsors, volunteers, and a caring community.
